The Larches Caravan Park is an adults-only park close to the small Cumbrian market town of Wigton.
The site is open from the beginning of March until the end of October every year. Guests with touring caravans, motorhomes and tents are welcome, and guests enjoy plenty of privacy and space when staying here, including a dedicated wetroom for each pitch.
Pitches with electric hook-up only or fully serviced pitches are available at The Larches Caravan Park, while there is also the option of enjoying a back to basics camping experience and not using any hook-ups. Additional facilities at this campsite include a dedicated wetroom for each pitch, an amenities block with individual cubicles, each with a toilet, a basin and a shower, a washing up area, a laundrette and a chemical waste disposal point. A small shop selling a range of essential, everyday groceries and camping accessories is also found at the park, enabling guests to stock up on-site.
Wigton is about a 10-minute drive from this campsite. Here you will find a Lidl supermarket, a post office, a pharmacy and lots of pubs, cafes and restaurant – perfect if you fancy a break from cooking and washing up on your camping and caravan holidays.
Perhaps you'd like to visit Carlisle? It is a 30- to 40-minute drive away and as well as finding a wider range of shops and amenities here, be sure to tour Carlisle Cathedral, Carlisle Castle and the Cumberland Bird of Prey Centre. Stoneyholme Golf Club is not far from the city centre and Carlisle Golf Club is just the other side of the M6, so if you want to enjoy a round of golf, you've a number of options near Carlisle.
However, as The Larches Caravan Park overlooks Skiddaw and the Northern Fells, it's the perfect place to use as your base if you want to enjoy the natural beauty of this part of the country, whether you want to visit the Lakes or the Scottish borders.
Keswick, in the heart of the Lake District, is just a half hour drive from this adult only campsite. In the town itself you'll discover the Cumberland Pencil Museum, the Theatre by the Lake, the Keswick Museum and Art Gallery, plus some pubs, restaurants and other eateries. A short way outside the town is the Castlerigg Stone Circle, from where you can enjoy fabulous, panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Plus, Keswick sits on Derwentwater – take a 50-minute cruise on the water, go canoeing or sailing, enjoy time fishing here, or maybe take a swim.
Right across the Lake District National Park there are lots of opportunities to get active on your motorhome, camping and caravan holidays, so that you can see and enjoy this majestic landscape. If you love walking holidays you will be in your element – and if you don't want to choose your own route, there are plenty of guided walks, many of them free. It's also a great area for cycling and mountain biking, so whether you prefer your two-wheeled action on- or off-road, there's something for you here.
