Swallowholme Camping and Caravan Park at Bamford in the Hope Valley, Derbyshire, is a small family-run site. In addition to seasonal pitches the site caters for a small number of touring caravans, motorhomes and tents. The maximum size tent that can be accommodated is 5m x 3.5m. Touring pitches are mainly on grass with electric hook-up available. The site has a shower and toilet block with a dishwashing area and laundry sink, also a chemical toilet disposal point.
Swallowholme is a great site to use as a walking base. The site is within walking distance of the Railway Station and only 5 minutes drive to nearby Hathersage, where there is a heated outdoor pool. Stanage Edge is not far away - a magnet for rock climbers. The Ladybower Reservoir is a pleasant walk from the site, mainly off road following the Thornhill Trail. There is a bus stop close by for buses to Castleton, Hope, Hathersage, Sheffield etc. Other places to visit are Chatsworth House, Eyam, Bakewell, Buxton and many more.
The River Derwent runs by the site. Trout and grayling fishing is permitted with a current licence. The site has a variety of wildlife including ducks, moorhens, pheasants, owls, weasels and rabbits.
The site does not have a children's play area and, due to the small size of the site, bike riding and ball games are not permitted, however there is a recreation ground and children s play area in the village, not far from the site.
Sorry but dogs are not allowed to stay on site.
