Turnberry is easy to reach both via the A77 from Glasgow heading down the South West Coast past Ayr and Turnberry and from the south M6 to A76 Dumfries, heading North to join A77, then follow signs for Turnberry. The ferry crossings to Lara and Belfast offer a chance to see Ireland from Dumfries and Cairnyan.
