Neaum Crag house and grounds close to Skelwith Bridge, at the entrance to Langdale were bought in 1960 by the Lake District Special Planning Board and developed as a caravan and campsite.
After running the site as such for some twenty years it was sold to a company called Dorridge Ltd. who replaced the caravans with timber chalets and built two apartment blocks to replace holiday homes that had been built by the Planning Board.
Dorridge sold each of the 82 wooden chalets on its own delineated freehold plot of land.
